Dan and his mentor, Speaker Melissa Hortman

Despite representing a St. Cloud House district that Trump won, Dan has never shied away from standing up for all Minnesotans.
That’s why he voted to make Minnesota a trans-refuge state, codified abortion access for everyone, and supported banning dangerous conversion therapy. -
Dan stood up to big business interests and was the deciding House vote to pass Paid Family & Medical Leave in Minnesota. He has also been a vocal advocate for closing corporate tax loopholes and taxing the rich in order to make things more fair for working people.
-
As a member of the Legislative Commission on Pensions & Retirement, Dan spearheaded legislation to improve and secure teacher pensions. This is an important step toward tackling the teacher shortage crisis in our state to improve outcomes for students and families.

A Proven Housing Leader
The housing crisis has left no corner of Minnesota unaffected. Rents have gone up, it’s harder than ever for first-time homebuyers, and the construction of new homes isn’t keeping pace with demand.
Dan Wolgamott is a proven housing leader who believes everyone deserves a safe space to call home. He’s won a Housing Leadership Award from Housing First Minnesota, with their executive director stating that Dan, “played a key role in advancing housing affordability and homeownership opportunities for everyone, everywhere.”
As State Auditor, Dan will serve on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Housing Agency. He’s committed to continuing to lead on the important issues of affordable housing, zoning modernization, and increased transparency.

Supporting Minnesota Cities and Townships
In 2022, Dan was one of only 18 Minnesota legislators to earn recognition from the League of Minnesota Cities. He has developed key relationships between our local governments and the state, and has consistently demonstrated his commitment to meeting the unique needs of rural, urban, and suburban residents across Minnesota.
Dan also received the Legislator of Distinction Award in 2021 from the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities for his positive impact on economic development outside of the Twin Cities. He has been a key champion of the Greater Minnesota Business Development Public Infrastructure Grant Program, which helps rural cities and townships to pay for critical infrastructure upgrades such as water/sewer connections and roads. Dan believes that no matter their zip code, all Minnesotans deserve to have these community needs met.

Standing with Minnesota Fire Fighters and Peace Officers
In 2020, Dan received the prestigious Golden Axe award from the Minnesota Professional Fire Fighters Association for his advocacy for frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our firefighters are some of the bravest people in our state, and they risk everything to keep folks safe.
During his time in the State House, Dan has authored legislation to support strong pensions, and supported historic police reforms to improve accountability and restore community trust.
